3D animatic

Me, Sarah, James, Brent, Laura and Steve have bashed out a quick 3D rough animatic in the past 2 days. Can't post it up here because it has a model that we haven't modelled and don't have permission to model but it's up on the Physical realm private page on facebook.

Otherwise I've been gluing bits of foam to Jade's crossbow to bulk out the tips. That should be dry enough to paint tomorrow. Otherwise I'm going to finish off the masks tomorrow, gluing elastic bands to the back and finishing the paint job by dry brushing them. Also need to start the two kitty cat face bounty hunter masks tomorrow.

The costumes are looking good. Brogan and Lana have pretty much completed Collidus and a henchman costume. The sets and props are a bit confused at the moment because Brandon is still working out what we need for that, otherwise the guys are building walls and a roof for Bray's house(I think). Weapons are done pretty much and looking extremely impressive.

Finally rendered out turn-arounds for a show-reel that I'm entering into the CG society\Autodesk competition. That's all good and submitted.

Otherwise trying to work on the hair/fur report. Found heaps of articles on Brave and Tangled, however the actual model i'm having trouble with. I can't remember how to properly attach the hair to the head(skull cap, whatever).

Mask making, set building

Whole team has been making the sets for Bones of Essimer. I'm on mask duty, so far the henchman and Osseus's mask have been painted and shelacked(don't know how to spell it.) Today created Collidus's mask from start to finish. Recruited Sarah to make the final Henchman mask, she's made it out of polystyrene and paper mached two layers on today. The guys have been making masses of weapons out of bone, stone, antlers and the blades that Karl have given them as well as old scythes etc. Jiang has been sticking an impressive amount of spikes onto a set of gauntlets. The guys back at the tin shed have been breaking up pallets to make the objects in Brays house as well as sewing bits and pieces of fabric. Tomorrow they are going to buy some proper fabric as there is not enough red fabric to make the costumes.

I'm thinking tomorrow i'll glue some elasticated bands on the masks as well as glue some black fabric on the back of Colidus's mask so that the face won't be visible. Also need to paint some splits in the bone on.

Storyboards update

Both mine and James storyboards are amalgamated. Then had a meeting about the storyboards with the art department, VFX and the director to break them down. The storyboards had to be updated again, more shots were added and some were cut. Here is the final result below. I need to update the animatic now.

creating masks

Went into G3 to learn how to make quick masks from Karl. James made one of paper mache based off of clay molded onto a plaster cast face, I made one from a block of polystyrene and paper mached over the top a couple layers. Also was able to pick up a couple of masks from G3 that were unwanted that could be turned into something. Finally, got Mosely to pick up a load of wood found in a skip behind G3 left by the construction guys. So now got 2 masks, will need two more in theory, one more bone cult henchman and Osseus. Accidentally missed the auditions that were happening at downtown, plain forgot which was pretty unproffessional but at least I was doing something productive at the time.

prop and costume making

Have been learning how to use the machines in G3. Did simple stuff to make small pointy teeth or broken bones. I am going back to G3 block tomorrow to learn how to make quick paper mache.

Update, promise of pictures

Received the script for our video game project on Thursday 3rd of April. Started making thumbnails and storyboards with James. Had to stop on Friday as the 48 hour film festival was on. Started storyboarding again today using charcoal. My initial thumbnails couldn't be read so that's why I'm doing large drawings with charcoal. James has storyboarded the very beginning when Kristana gets kidnapped as well as the two fight sequences, Colidus strangling a villager and Osseus and the bone ship at the end. I'm doing the rest. Currently trying to assemble the charcoal drawings. Also found out today that the story is in Cinescope, I didn't know this when I started so all of my drawings are in HDTV but that should be easy enough to fix. Will post pictures of thumbnails etc. later.
