nCloth, good website
Great site that explains everything about nCloth in maya http://www.joelstutz.com/nCloth.html
Reminder to self-Research project
These are notes to myself. Other people unless related to research don't bother reading.
posting some links to papers for my research project so that they're available in class.
'Can the placement(in beats) and presentation of information regarding the 'true' story in the film Shutter island(2010) be found to be similar to other psychotraumatic films such as 'the machinist'?
http://books.google.co.nz/books?hl=en&lr=&id=T7Ofq366vYUC&oi=fnd&pg=PA13&dq=related:a6wc4mIHdy0J:scholar.google.com/&ots=1nOsH465j0&sig=lpgVL9F7RwKRgmRskIKyUNL7rSI#v=onepage&q&f=false
is a book so I don't know how I'm going to get that information hm. Is about puzzle films
http://poeticstoday.dukejournals.org/content/34/1-2/119.short
Haven't yet found a link to the full article yet. About mind tricking narratives.
http://www.style.niu.edu/ojs/index.php/style/article/view/39/32
Full report, although very short, to do with imbedding information about delerium in fight club. V relevent
http://books.google.co.nz/books/about/The_Suspense_Thriller.html?id=GqExHkQU63wC&redir_esc=y
a book so I'm going to have to see if I can get my hands on it. It's where I found the term 'psychotramatic thriller'

Another book to do with the machinist
http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/17400309.2012.658677#.Uw7mloXNlPt
Paper that I can't get access to
http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/rodopi/pms/2004/00000035/00000001/art00005
another book, don't know whether it will be helpful
Will also use 'Save the cats' description of institutionalised films
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm still trying to find a film to replace 'the machinist' because I don't think that it's the best in the genre. I would really like to compare it to 'the haunting of hill house' the book however it's best if I find a film. Perhaps another 'twist' film would do (not necessarily a psychotraumatic thriller) like 'The sixth sense'.
Films I should see before making a decision
fight club(again), Machinist(again), Snake pit(1948), Gaslight(1944), spider(2002), the secret window

Mirror Man, introduction to ncloth
This year we are learning how to do cloth, water, fur, fire and crowds. This was our
first little introductory lesson about cloth(cloth is our first
assignment).
Cloth can be used for
more than just clothing, webbing of a bat or dragon wing is a good
example. Here's an example we got shown from Snow white and the
huntsman(2012) of a 'mirror man'. Originally they investigated
fluid but decided that cloth would be more appropriate.
You can also change the weight of the cloth by selecting the ncloth in your left side menu and then choosing different presets in the attribute editor.

Edit Edge tool in Maya 2014
I have been using the new tool in Maya, the 'Edit edge' tool. It is found in the 'Edit Mesh' sub-menu under the 'Polygon' menu. It center's edge loops or vertices as well as pushing or pulling the Edge loop/vertices in or out to create a smooth transition from the surrounding edges/vertices. As you can tell it's easier to show than explain. I found this tool very useful and novel as usually I would have to move all of the vertices manually.
